The EAC Relief & Development Department is popularly referred as EAC Manipur.
EAC Manipur is driven by our unwavering faith and a clear vision: to cultivate a society that is just, secure, and inclusive for all. Our mission is multifaceted, aiming to empower the disadvantaged, elevate living standards, and advocate for equality and justice, with a special emphasis on empowering women. We are committed stewards of the natural environment, striving to ensure a sustainable legacy for future generations, while fostering peace and harmony within our communities.
Our initiatives encompass a diverse range of areas to enact positive change. Through livelihood generation programs, we equip individuals with the skills and resources needed for sustainable income, including livestock rearing and vegetable cultivation.
Microfinance initiatives, particularly targeting women through Self Help Groups, provide crucial access to microloans to jumpstart small businesses. Addressing rural healthcare needs and promoting Natural Resource Management practices are integral components of our work. Additionally, ensuring food security is paramount in our community development efforts.
At EAC, we are dedicated to building resilient communities and shaping a brighter future. Join us in our mission to create lasting impact and uplift those in need. Together, we can empower communities for a brighter tomorrow.
The EAC provided essential relief supplies like rice, cooking oil, and lentils to 60 home-based IDPs in December 2023. They also distributed medicine, eggs, and even sports equipment to residents in five different displacement camps, demonstrating their commitment to both physical and mental well-being.
EAC Manipur's impact: Uplifting Tribal Lives in Manipur: The ITDP Initiative
Manipur’s Integrated Tribal Development Project (ITDP) targets 200 families, aiming to elevate their lives through the “WADI” method – a holistic approach to Natural Resource Management (NRM). Launched in February 2021 in 10 villages of Pherzawl District’s Vangai TD Block, the project receives support from NABARD’s Tribal Development Fund. A monitoring visit with NABARD’s DDM occurred in November 2023.
The WADI approach, promoting sustainable NRM, is expected to improve livelihoods through income generation activities, sustainable land management, and potentially, infrastructure development. By empowering communities and fostering responsible resource use, the ITDP strives to create a lasting positive impact for Manipur’s tribal families.
