Three-Day “Roster Training” on Disaster Response Held in Ranchi, Jharkhand

A three-day training program titled “Roster Training” on Disaster Response was successfully held at the Badlao Institution of Training and Management in Ranchi, Jharkhand from April 3rd to 5th, 2024. Organized by LOCAL (Local Organizations Coalition for Advancing Localization), the training aimed to build capacity and provide complementary support to grassroots organizations facing challenges in disaster response.

A total of 36 NGOs from various parts of India participated in the training. The event commenced with welcome notes from Nishant Joshi of Humanitarian Aid International (HAI) and participant introductions. CEO of HAI, Mr. Shudhanshu Shekhar Singh, warmly welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude for their commitment to attending the session.

The primary objective of the training was to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding of emergency response concepts. The interactive sessions ensured that knowledge was not only disseminated but also accurately perceived and understood by the participants. Trainers facilitated discussions, encouraging participants to ask questions and offer suggestions to enhance learning.

The training sessions were led by a distinguished panel of experts, including Dr. Hugo Slim, Ms. Juliet Parker, Ms. Degan Ali, Ms. Christina Bennett, Ms. Tanya Wood, Dr. Sanjay Patra, and Dr. Jayakumar. Their expertise provided valuable insights into various aspects of disaster response.

Among the attendees were Ms. Evelene Lalthamawi and Mr. Darrosang from the Relief & Development Department of the Evangelical Assembly Church, who actively participated in the sessions.

The “Roster Training” program has significantly contributed to enhancing the disaster response capabilities of participating NGOs, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to better serve their communities in times of crisis.
